I have been waiting to run the Milwaukee Marathon for 2 years now. It was delayed from April 2021 to October 2021, due to COVID.
I can live with that, everyone was scared at the time and every event was cancelled just to be safe. Fine.
In September, 4 weeks before the event, the announce the race is cancelled.
"Despite doing everything we could to work with the city, we were unable to attain the proper permits for the race."
Meanwhile the lake front marathon happened in October, in the same area, no problem.
They announce the next Milwaukee marathon will be April 2nd 2022.
Since then they have been radio silent, no communication or updates to runners. I have reached out through Facebook, email, I've tried everything, with no response.
I can't help but feel the organizers are in over their heads and don't know what they are doing.
Overall it's just an extreme disappointment and I would advise everyone to look at other races and avoid this one entirely.
Race Tips
Choose another race instead. The Lakefront Marathon is a great alternative.
If you plan to race in this, it will be extremely difficult to contact the organizers with any questions. They completely ignored me.

Review
Great course that was 26.2 miles! My first marathon and got a BQ on this course! Winded through downtown MKE which kept it varied, beautiful lakefront views, fun after party, great price and weather! Plenty of aid stations and volunteers. Loved the post race snacks! Only gripe is the fleece jacket arms were a bit short so improve on that!
Race Tips
Give yourself plenty of time to find parking and leaving the race was a bit of grid lock finding my way back to the freeway with lots of road closures. That's to be expected but wondering if parking farther away and having continuous shuttles after might alleviate that?
It wasn't an overly hilly course. Just enough to keep it varied and challenging. I’d do it again but gonna see if I get into Boston next April first!
